About the Role

GLJ Ltd. is looking for a Junior Geoscientist or Geoscientist-in-Training to join our geological evaluations group.

As a Jr. Geoscientist you will collaborate directly with senior geoscientists, engineers and business professionals in a diverse range of energy projects including oil and gas reserves evaluations. These projects and evaluations are crucial to support corporate financing or property transactions in the industry. The successful applicant will be involved in a wide range of projects, and will be responsible for:

  • Providing technical support for a wide range of projects for GLJ’s clients, including: subsurface mapping, wireline log analysis, and geocellular model construction of various subsurface environments and lithologies.
  • Proactively engage in maintaining client relationships through email, phone calls and meeting with clients.
  • Involvement in the preparation of technical reports for our clients for annual oil and gas reserve and resource disclosure, techno-economic studies, integrated studies, emerging energy technology and sustainability studies.
  • Collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team to provide trusted technical advisory to our clients.

Your Qualifications

Consideration will only be given to applicants with a BSc. in Geology/Geosciences with APEGA status (P.Geo or GIT status) who are legally able to work in Canada.  What we are looking for:

  • A recent graduate from a Geosciences program (<5 years experience).
  • Eligible for registration with APEGA as a Geoscientist-in-Training.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a curiosity to understand the complexities of the problem at hand.
  • A strong ability to visualize data with a desire to work with large or complex datasets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Previous experience in the oil & gas or emerging energy industries, writing of technical reports and giving presentations to multi-disciplinary groups is considered an asset.
  • Some experience with industry software such as GeoScout, Accumap, Petrel, ArcGIS and petrophysical software is preferred.
